Ambassador’s history is rich and simply a blessing from God. In January of 1993, a representative from the Florida Conference came to our doors and introduced our first pastor, Pastor Lincoln Llewellyn. It was there the spark became a fire and Ambassador grew in the community. We assembled at Merrill Methodist Church with just a membership of 19, including men, women, and children.
We held crusades, drug marches, and feeding programs, and also adopted a street – NW 41st street stretching east to NW 31st Avenue. The youth and children flourished, we were strong together – we prayed together, ate together, and cared for each other in good times and bad. This love spread outward and as our little church grew we realized we needed more space.
God continued to bless us so much, we barely had room to receive it. During this time the city of Lauderhill’s mayor and commissioner, agreed to bless us with the use of the city’s recreational center to hold our Pathfinder meetings, Bible Bowl team meetings, and our children’s choir (The Ambassador Gems) practices.
As we grew and became a stronger congregation, we enjoyed the great times and stayed strong through the tough times. Pastor Lincoln Llewellyn, our first leader, passed away and was succeeded by Pastor James. Our most exigent goal, now more than ever, was to worship in our own location, but achieving this was proving to be difficult. We were able to relocate to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, but our hearts were set on having our own. Our membership continued to increase so we intensified our fund raising efforts, believing one day, our dreams of having our own location to worship God would come to fruition.
The time soon came for Pastor James to answer a call to serve. He was succeeded by Pastor Paulicin. It was under his leadership that our dreams for a church home became a reality. Through much fasting, prayer, and sacrifices, we were able to call Ambassador SDA Church located at 3245 W Oakland Park Blvd, our home.
Ambassador is a lively mixture of young and the young at heart. The music and energy that flow through the pews are in thanksgiving to the God we serve and testament of what God can do with a faithful few. His faithfulness is forever.
We are currently a vivacious family with the vibrant and spirited leader, Pastor Valtricts Binns. He is our 4th Pastor. Both he and his family have been a true blessing to our family here at Ambassador. Through his leadership, we will continue to follow our Master Jesus Christ in praise and worship, thanksgiving and prayer.
Romans 12:4-5 states: “For just as we have many members in one body and all members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
